The Guy Who Helped Build IBM’s Watson Has Been Hired By Facebook

As Facebook dives deeper into Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) the company has hired IBM’s former chief scientist Jerome Pesenti to join its team.

It was earlier in the week that Facebook announced it would be doubling the size of its AI lab in Paris.

According to a Facebook spokesperson who spoke to CNBC, Pesenti, the man who helped build IBM’s Watson, will now be Facebook’s vice president of artificial intelligence.

Facebook’s former head of artificial intelligence research, Yann LeCun, will now be the company’s chief artificial intelligence scientist.

The Facebook spokesperson has said that the company will be speeding up its growth in AI under Pesenti.

According to the spokesperson, the FAIR group now has over 130 people globally and the changes right now hould help the transfer of technology from the FAIR group to the AML group.
