Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Dodges A Bullet For Us All

While many of us may not understand the aspects of Google’s landmark case with Oracle, it still affects us all in our digital lives.

This week a federal jury in California has awarded Google the win in a billion dollar case over Android that has gone on for years.

The jury decided that Google owes Oracle none of the $9.3 billion it demanded for the non-existent offense of duplicating the functions of Oracle’s Java software in the code of its Android operating system.

While Google dodged a very expensive bullit, the decision also helped avoid a future with software development being a permission-first environment. In other words, coders don’t have to ask permission.
