General Motors (GM) Is About To Make A Huge $1B Announcement
According to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to Reuters on Monday, General Motors could be just a day away from a huge announcement.
The announcement will be regarding long-held plans to invest about $1 billion in its U.S. factories.
According to the source, General Motors is making this decision for business and not political reasons.
This kind of investment could help the auto maker create more than 1,000 jobs said the source.
GM General Counsel Craig Glidden told the Wall Street Journal that any investment the company might disclose had been long planned and was not a response to President-elect Donald Trump’s criticism.
Trump has criticized General Motors for building vehicles in Mexico and he even threatened earlier this month to impose a “big border tax” on the company for making some of their Chevrolet Cruze compact cars in Mexico.
