Facebook Wants to Win Back Teenagers By Doing This

Social media giant is making an attempt to win back teenage users on its platform according to a report from TechCrunch on Friday.

The company will be using memes to do it.

Facebook has confirmed to TechCrunch that the company is privately testing a hub for memes on its platform dubbed LOL.

According to the company, a small number of users in the United States are now testing the app. LOL replaces the Watch section for videos in the app but there are no plans to roll out LOL in Watch. Facebook also does not know if LOL will become a feature in the app or a separate app.

A Facebook spokesperson told CNBC that it is running a “small scale test and the concept is in the early stages right now.” Reportedly the company is testing the feature with a select group of high school students, with the consent of their parents.

According to TechCrunch, LOL’s design and features are similar to Snapchat’s Discover feed.
