Facebook Wants to Help You Find a Long-term Relationship
Social media giant Facebook may be getting into the online dating arena.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at Facebook’s F8 developer conference that the company will begin rolling out a new dating feature.
Zuckerberg announced the dating app is mean tto help bring people together into long-lasting relationships. He also reassured that the app, which is not meant for hookups, was designed with privacy.
“This is going to be for building real, long-term relationships — not just hook-ups,” Zuckerberg said.
To use the feature, Facebook users need to tap the heart icon which is at the top right corner of their profile. The dating profile will show your first name and will only be visible to other people using the service. Facebook friends will not be able to see your online dating activity.
The app will show users potential matches and events nearby that match up to their personal interests.
In other news, the co-founder of WhatsApp, Jan Koum, announced this week that he is leaving the company. He wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, that it is time to “move on.”
“And I’ll still be cheering WhatsApp on – just from the outside,” he wrote.
