Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said, “I’m responsible for what happened’ regarding the company’s data privacy issues.

The social media giant’s leader has taken personal responsibility for allowing third parties to access the information of Facebook users without their permission.

“I started this place, I run it,” the CEO said to reporters this week. “I’m responsible for what happened here.”

According to Zuckerberg, Facebook did not do enough to focus on preventing abuse. He has called this lack of action a “huge mistake” and also said it was his mistake.

He also said, “I’m going to do the best job running it going forward, but I’m not going to throw anyone under the bus.” Zuckerberg has said nobody has been fired due to the scandal.

It was last month that The Guardian and The New York Times reported that Cambridge Analytica used personal data from Facebook users trhough a quiz app.
