Elon Musk and the SEC Ask Judge for This
Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission were recently ordered by a judge to workout their issues.
The two have asked a judge for another week to settle the dispute over how Musk handles his Twitter account. The two have said that “discussions are ongoing.”
A federal judge has ruled to give them the extra week. U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan in Manhattan extended the deadline to April 25th.
The SEC had said that Musk should be held in contempt over a tweet he sent out in February. According to the SEC, the electric vehicle maker’s leader had violated a settlement he had reached with the agency.
The tweet about Tesla’s production had not been vetted by the company’s attorneys said the SEC.
Musk settled by agreeing to step down as chairman and have the company’s lawyers pre-approve written communications with material information about the company, including tweets.
If Musk and the agency fail to resolve the dispute, Judge Nathan said she would rule on the contempt request.
