Cisco is Fighting Homelessness in this City by Giving $50 Million
Santa Clara County has been experiencing a epic homelessness problem for years and it has only gotten worse.
Last year the overall homeless population increased by 13% to 7,394 people over the course of two years. The county has the third highest rate of chronic homelessness in America.
Cisco is trying to help put a stop to this and has announced that it is giving a $50 million donation to Destination: Home over the next five years. Destination: Home is a public-private partnership that uses collective impact strategies to accomplish its mission, ending homelessness in Santa Clara County.
Cisco has donated $20 million already as an initial donation through its Cisco Fund.
“We have said for a long time that it is up to all of us to end homelessness in our community,” Destination: Home CEO Jennifer Loving stated.
“Cisco has fully embraced that concept, and is stepping up in a big way to provide the type of critical private sector leadership and substantial funding that is necessary to address this crisis head on. We couldn’t be more thrilled or grateful to have Chuck Robbins and the Cisco team at the table.”
