American Airlines Has Canceled More Flights Than Any Other Airline in July
It looks like the month of July did not treat well know airline American Airlines well this summer.
The airline has canceled more flights than any US carrier in July with the company stating that “it was a tough summer.”
According to government data, Texas-based American Airlines had canceled more flights than any other major U.S. carrier and struggled with persistent delays in July.
The airline has blamed the grounded Boeing 737 Max as well as a labor dispute with its mechanics and bad weather for disruptions. The airline and the mechanics unions resumed contracts talks this week however.
“It was a tough summer for us,” CFO Derek Kerr said Wednesday at the Skift Global Forum, a travel industry conference held in New York. “We’re focusing on next year.
After American Airlines, United had the second-highest number of cancellations in July, equal to 2.5% of its schedule. United spokesman Charlie Hobart said, “These are always challenging months.”
