Amazon shares were on fire in Friday trading and as the stock’s value went up, so did its CEO Jeff Bezos’ net worth.
Bezos is now the richest man in the world and has pushed Bill Gates out of the number one spot. Gates previously had the lead at $88.5 billion.
Although Bezos previously pushed Gates out of that spot, it wasn’t long lived. Now however with over $90 billion, his spot as number one may last longer. Unless Microsoft puts him back to the no. 2 spot again.
Amazon’s share price increase also pushed his net worth up about $7 billion overnight after the company reported earnings.
According to CNBC calculations, which retrieved the data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezo has a networth of over $90 billion.
It was a monster earnings beat for Amazon on Friday, with revenue of $43.7 billion for the quarter. Analysts had been waiting for $42.14 billion.
EPS at 52 cents also significantly beat the 3 cents per share that was expected.
