YouTube Has a New Verification Process That Has Outraged Many

Many YouTubers were upset to find a new verification policy on the YouTube platform this week.

YouTube has changed its policy for verification and primarily will be using it only for popular channels that might be confused with others.

On Thursday, The Google-owned platform sent out notifications to some channels who may be unverified and told some channels that they were going to lose verification status. Noone has been removed yet from the site.

The company has said that to be verified, channels must now have a prominent channel name that represents a well-known or highly searched creator, artist, brand or public figure, as well as a demonstrated need to differentiate themselves from other channels with a similar name.

Channel creators took to Twitter to voice their concerns with some tweeting which channels looked unverified now.

YouTube responded with a tweet and said, “Additional clarification: ✔️No one lost a verification badge today–If you received an email that your channel will no longer be verified, this was just an advanced notice & you can appeal ✔️The checkmark has never appeared on YouTube mobile channel pages (this will be added soon)”
