World’s Largest Brewer Is About To Fire A Lot Of People

Posted on

AB Inbev, the world’s largest brewer, is expecting to slash around 3% of its total workforce after it completes its takeover of SABMiller, its closest rival.

This mean thousands of job will be lost. The company, located in Belgium, has around 150,000 workers while the London-based SABMiller claims to have around 70,000. About 6,600 jobs are expected to be cut over a three-year period.

In documents published today however, AB Inbev said that the estimate doesn’t include its sales and front-office supply departments, for which integration plans are not completed.

This means even more than 6,600 jobs may be cut.

The newly formed company will be based in Leuven and New York.
