Walt Disney Announces New Trilogy for “Star Wars”
It was on Thursday that Walt Disney made an announcement that may have many Star Wars fans pumped and antsy.
Disney announced that Rian Johnson would be creating a new trilogy for the “Star Wars” epic space tale. CEO Bob Iger made the announcement on a call with investment analysts and also said that a live-action “Star Wars” series would be making its debut in 2019 on the company’s streaming service when it launches then.
According to Disney, “Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”
“He’s a creative force, and watching him craft ‘The Last Jedi’ from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career,” Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy remarked about Johnson. “Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”
Johnson will work along side his producing partner Ram Bergman. The two made a joint statement and said, “We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on ‘The Last Jedi.’ ‘Star Wars’ is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”
