Trump Signs Executive Order to Stop Separating Immigrant Children From Parents
It looks like the backlash has paid off because President Trump signed an executive order today that will stop separating innocent children from their parents who are being detained for illegally crossing the U.S. border.
The president signed an executive order on Wednesday that he says will keep migrant families together during detention on the U.S.-Mexico border.
According to President Trump, he “didn’t like the sight or feeling of families being separated.”
The Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy still stands however. The policy criminally prosecutes any adult who crosses U.S. borders illegally, even those who come here looking for asylum.
“We’re keeping families together and this will solve that problem. At the same time we are keeping a very powerful border and there continues to be a zero tolerance,” Trump told reporters.
