Thousands Of People Forced To Evacuate Northern California

188,000 people were evacuated in Northern California this Sunday, all from towns surrounding the Oroville Dam.

The communities were threatened by a huge hole that was discovered in an emergency spillway. The spillway catches excess water when Lake Oroville’s water level rises to overflow the dam.

These people had literaly only minutes to prepare for the sudden evacuation with stores closing all over.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has spoken to a member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet and has requested federal response aid.

“Things can fail whether it’s levees or dams or bridges,” he said. “We’re doing everything we can to get this dam in shape so [evacuees] can return and live safely without fear.”
