Target Is Redefining What The Perfect Bikini Body Is

There has been much debate on what the perfect bikini body truly is. Target is making it loud and clear that ANY body can be a perfect bikini body with a brand new swimsuit campaign.

The retailer is trying to do its part in eliminating societal pressure on how a woman should look in a swimsuit.

The campaign, called, #TargetSwim, is promoting their new swimwear line that includes “suits for every beach body under the sun.”

According to the retailer’s website, Target has teamed up models who all have different body shapes but are body-positive.

The campaign features television personality and former Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford as well as professional skateboarder Lizzie Armanto.

Model Denis Bidot in the picture below is showing off her body-positive swimsuit for Target’s campaign. The brunnette says on the site, “I feel most confident in a two-piece suit with a high waist bottom and a top that fits just right. … Once you find that perfect suit that fits just right it will give you that extra boost of confidence that will make your pool or beach day even better.”

Bidot is a plus-sized model who starred in the recent Lane Bryant campaign that featured un-retouched images that displayed her cellulite and stretch marks.

Her statement on the shoot was, “For so long society has pushed us into a corner were we couldn’t be real. We had to be Photoshopped and airbrushed to be liked and thought of as sexy. But I think we are beyond that, and we need to start encouraging women to love who they are — imperfections and all. It is amazing to see how our industry has changed. So many things that used to be not OK are now being embraced and loved equally.”

Target wrote on their site, “Finding your favorite style suit is important, and we’re all about offering flattering fit and cut options to help guests feel confident in their swimsuits. After all, you look your best when you feel your best!”
