Special Committee Formed by Guess to Investigate Claims Against its CEO
It seems like almost everyday there is someone with power is accused of sexual misconduct.
Last week it was model Kate Upton who called out Guess’s CEO Paul Marciano on social media, proclaiming that he used his “power in the industry to sexually and emotionally harass women.”
According to Marciano, the claims are false and he has denied any wrongdoing.
Guess announced on Friday that it has formed a special committee to oversee an ongoing investigation into the claims and to see if Marciano’s sexual harrasment allegations and improper conduct allegations hold any truth.
Guess has said that it would not “condone such misconduct in any form.” Law firms O’Melveny & Myers and Glaser Weil will assist in the investigation.
The company is promising an “extensive and impartial investigation into all of the facts.”
Upton said in a Time Magazine interview, “The culture of complacency and tolerance in our industry needs to stop. The people around in the corporate offices or around the harassers every day know of every time they do this. They’re the ones who need to speak out.”
