Popeye’s Chicken and Chik-fil-A are in a Twitter War for This Reason

Popeye’s and Chik-fil-A are in what one might call a chicken sandwich war, with both companies feuding on Twitter to try and boost sales.

The two fast food restaurants had a spat on Twitter this week. It was Popeyes, which is owned by Restaurant Brands International, that walked away with more followers after the feud.

Despite this, Chick-fil-A is still the biggest chicken chain in the U.S. by sales. The company hinted at Popeye’s new sandwich Monday in a tweet that said “Bun + Chicken + Pickles = all the [heart] for the original.”

Popeye’s then responded to that tweet and asked, ”… y’all good?” It was last week that Popeye’s introduced its own chicken sandwich to its menu that has pickles and a buttered bun. It resembles a Chick-fil-A sandwich.

“Many of our restaurants have seen a high demand for the sandwich, with guests excited to give it a try,” Popeye’s spokeswoman Dara Schopp said in a statement. “A few restaurants have temporarily sold out of the sandwich, and we are working to make sure they receive more as soon as possible.”
