Over 100,000 Pounds of Ground Beef is Being Recalled, Are You Affected?
It’s time to check our freezers, for those who eat beef anyway.
Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling a whopping 132,000 pounds of ground beef due to the possibility of it being contaminated with E. coli. There has already been one death and 17 illnesses since July.
The Department of Agriculture is concerned the product could be frozen in consumer’s homes.
The ground beef was packaged on June 21 by Cargill Meat Solutions, and was identified as the probable cause behind the death and the illnesses.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that illnesses have been reported in four states: Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts and Tennessee. The sick individuals began experiencing symptoms between July 5 and July 25th.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, most are sick three to four days after consumption and symptoms can include diarrhea that is sometimes bloody, vomiting and fever.
It was just a few weeks ago that Cargill recalled more than 25,000 pounds of ground beef suspected of being tainted with E. coli.
Cargill is sold at stores that include ShopRite, Albertsons and other regional grocers. Anyone who has purchased the beef from these stores should not eat it and should throw it away. A refund is possible if you return it to the store that you purchased it from.
