Online Sales Already Hit a Record Leading Up to Christmas

With just about a week to go until Christmas, holiday shopping is in full gear.

Online sales have already hit a record, seeing a jump of 18% to $110.6 billion being spent since November 1st, according to Adobe Analytics, a firm that tracks web transactions of 80 of the top 100 internet retailers in the U.S.

Adobe Analytics has said that by this time last year, $93.9 billion had been spent since November 1st

“Weary holiday shoppers continue to look for alternatives to crowded stores, long lines and empty shelves in the final push to Christmas,” said Taylor Schreiner, director of Adobe Digital Insights.

Schreiner added, “Retailers who can offer the easiest shopping experience, whether through excellent use of data to anticipate shoppers’ needs or by providing an option for picking up products at brick-and-mortar stores, are the ones people are flocking to this week.”

According to Adobe, it’s expected that shoppers will spend at least $126 billion this holiday season from Novemer 1st until December 31st.
