There Is No Evidence That Obama Wiretapped Trump Towers

Well it’s official. The House Intelligence Committee announced on Wednesday that they have seen no evidence that supports President Donald Trump’s claim that former president Barack Obama wiretapped the Trump Tower ahead of last year’s election.

Chairman, Republican Rep. Devin Nunes of California told reporters, “We don’t have any evidence. … I don’t think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower.”

Trump had made the allegations without any evidence to back them up.

Ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff said lawmakers will ask FBI Director James Comey about the issue during a public hearing Monday on the investigation into Russian influence on the U.S. election.

The United States Intelligence Community has officially concluded that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 United States elections.

In the President’s defense, Press secretary Sean Spicer appeared to say that his accusations of wiretapping could have meant a more broader activity that was not limited to just the Trump Tower.

President Trump’s exact tweet on March 4th was, “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”

Chairman Nunes has also said that Trump’s wiretapping claim, if taken literally, is wrong.

Nune wants more information on intercepted communications related to people associated with the Trump campaign, including ousted National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
