New Jersey Transit Train Crash Leaves More Than 100 Injured
A New Jersey Transit train crashed into Hoboken Terminal on Thursday morning, right before 9 a.m. during morning rush hour. The train plowed straight through a wall and left more than 100 with injuries. According to officials who told ABC News, at least one person was even killed.
The crash occured around 8:45 a.m. ET. on the platform at the Hoboken station in New Jersey. Service into and out of the station, which serves as a major hub for commuters traveling into New York City, has been suspended.
The Transit train had originally departed Spring Valley, New York at 7:23 a.m.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey governor Chris Christie will be giving a joint statement later this afternoon.
The train’s engineer was removed from the train and was unresponsive, according to an official assisting with rescue operation who told CNN.
