Microsoft To Fire Thousands of Workers
According to a new report by TechCrunch, Microsoft will be reportedly laying off thousands of its employees around the globe. TechCrunch noted that the move would be to restructure the company’s focus on cloud services and how to sell its Azure products. Azure, according to the company’s website, is an open, flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing platform.
Even Bloomberg has said that the lay offs could be as soon as this week and according to the outlet, it would affect redundant employees in Microsoft’s worldwide commercial business. Bloomberg noted that the redundancies would be “some of the most significant in the sales force in years.”
Azure revenue for Microsoft almost doubled in its fiscal third quarter and saw a sales growth of 93%.
The Puget Sound Business Journal reported last week that Microsoft would be announcing its new plans on July 5th.
Microsoft told CNBC, “Microsoft is implementing changes to better serve our customers and partners.”
