Massive Recall Has Been Announced For Hyundai and Kia

For the very first time, Seoul, South Korea has issued a compulsory recall order for 240,000 cars made by Hyuncai and Kia and has even said they are investigating whether the two car companies deliberately covered up the issues that affect these cars.

Kim Gwang-ho, a former Hyundai company employee, is the whistle blower that led the government to perform such an action. Gwang-ho, who has worked for Hyundai for 25 years, has brought up concerns that affects 12 different model vehicles.

The models include Hyudai’s i30 hatchback, the Sonata midsize sedan, the Genesis, and the Santa Fe. For Kia, it includes the Mohave and Carnival minivan.

All of the models involved have issues with faulty parts that include parking brake light issues, vacuum pipes, and fuel hoses.

The latest recall is added to the already 1.5 million vehicles that have already been recalled in both South Korea and the U.S. over possible engine stalling.

In a joint statement, both Hyundai and Kia said that they, “accept the administrative order”, but “there have been no reported injuries or accidents from the cited issues”.
