This is How Lyft is Helping Medical Patients
Transportation to hospitals and clinics in non-emergency situations is a multi-billion dollar market and one that ride hailing services like Lyft are looking at as an opportunity.
With how many elderly people not driving or have access to a car, it’s usually Medicare and Medicaid that have to pay the transportation costs for these people.
While Lyft has focused on consumers, this market could be a big one for the company.
One service that offers this population plans is called CareMore Health System and they have been working with Lyft in 2016 so that caregivers could schedule and monitor rides for the patients.
According to CareMore, working with Lyft has helped reduce wait times by 30% and decreased the cost per ride by one-third compared to other services like taxis.
“We’ve saved more than $1 million in one year by shifting to Lyft,” said Sachin Jain, president and CEO of CareMore, in an interview with CNBC.
