Ford Has a New Electric Mustang SUV That Can Go As Fast as a Porsche
Ford has officially rolled out the Mustang SUV, an electric SUV that can go from 0-60 mph in about 3.5 seconds.
Dubbed the Mustang Mach-E, the car has nearly the same speed as a Porsche 911 GTS.
The company unveiled the Mustang Mach-E Sunday night and unlike many electric vehicles, it will come with a distinctive sound, like its other models are known for. The sound has been an integral part of the Mustang.
The new Mustang is expected to be available in late 2020.
The basic versions of the vehicle will start at roughly $45,000 and fancier versions, such as the Performance Edition, will run around $60,000.
Ford executives say the automaker’s electric vehicles still qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit as well. They expect Mach-E buyers will be able to get that full tax credit for at least the first year it’s available.
“Congratulations on the Mach E! Sustainable/electric cars are the future!!” tweeted Tesla’s Elon Musk on Sunday. “Excited to see this announcement from Ford, as it will encourage other carmakers to go electric too.”
