Driver Gets Suspended by Uber and Lyft After Broadcasting Passengers
A man in St. Louis crossed the line as an Uber and Lyft driver, causing both services to suspend him.
Jason Gargac, who drove for both companies, live-streamed his passengers on Twitch live stream. The 32-year old driver built a following by broadcasting riders in his car. Some were even children.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Gargac had more than 4,000 viewers on his Twitch stream tune in during each ride. The commentary frequently including crude insults and judgement.
While Uber and Lyft do not allow this kind of behavior, the state of Missouri does not view the broadcasts as a violation of state law.
Uber told CNBC in a statement it had revoked Gargac’s credentials “while we evaluate his partnership with Uber.” Lyft also told CNBC in a statement that it also revoked Gargac’s driver privileges.
