Disney’s Films Are Accounting for Many of the US Box Office Movies

In the first nine months of the year, Disney’s films have taken up nearly 40% of the US box office and the films have sold over $8.1 billion in tickets.

The company has accounted for 33.4% of the U.S. box office and with recently acquiring Fox, Disney held nearly 40% of the box office gross.

Domestically Disney has already pulled in $2.7 billion and has not even released “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” “Frozen 2,” or “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”

According to Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, Disney will likely retain at least 30% of box office receipts by the end of 2019.

Disney also holds five of the top six spots on the list of highest-grossing films in 2019 with: “Avengers: Endgame,” “The Lion King,” “Toy Story 4,” “Captain Marvel” and “Aladdin” — have all sold over $1 billion in tickets globally.
