Did Corona Beer Founder Leave Millions To His Home Village?

Billionaire founder of Corona Beer, Antonino Fernandez, passed away in August, but it was just recently confirmed that Fernandez never did leave money to his home village.

Previous rumors had circulated saying Fernandez left $210 million to residents of the village in Spain’s Leon province.

A spokesman for Fundación Cerezales Antonino y Cinia, an arts group founded by Fernandez, denied the rumors. In a statement to Mashable, Lucia Alajos said “I can confirm he didn’t leave money to his villagers in his will … His family recently opened his will and we actually don’t know who got the money from the inheritance. But it’s definitely not the town or his neighbors.”

Fernandez was 99 years old when he passed away. He was born in the Spanish village of Cerezales del Condado in 1917 and was one of 13 siblings. He later emigrated to Mexico when he was 32 year olds, where he founded the beer and made a fortune. He was CEO of Grupo Modelo in 1971, the company which brews Corona, the second most imported bottled beer in the USA.
