Court Orders The Olsen twins To Pay For Stiffing Interns Wages

Court documents at the Manhattan Federal Court revealed on Wednesday that former child-stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been ordered to pay $140,000 to former interns. The interns claimed they were stiffed on their wages.

The Olsen twins, who rose to fame on the show “Full House”, own Dualstar Entertainment company, which was sued by the interns claiming that they should have been paid minimum wage plus overtime. The interns say they had been doing the kind of work their paid colleagues had done, but without compensation.

Shahista Lalani is the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit and according to the suit, she had logged 50 hours a week of work from May to September 2012 that was unpaid.

$140,000 is peanuts to both the stars who each have an estimated net worth of $100 million.

According to the Daily News, a payment of $530 will be granted to each of the 185 interns named in the case. That is if the judge agrees.

While many of the “Full House” cast mates are acting in the revived sitcom on Netflix called “Fuller House”, the twins have declined to be a part of it.
