Netflix Will Stream The New Star Trek

In a landmark international licensing agreement for the new “Star Trek” television series, Netflix and CBS studios announced that Netflix will be the exclusive premiere home for the program in 188 countries, excluding the US and Canada.

The new “Star Trek” series will begin production in Toronto this September for its January 2017 premiere. Each episode of the new series will be available globally within 24 hours of its U.S. premiere.

This is the first time the global franchise will be on television since 2005. There will be a new ship, new characters and of course new missions.

All 727 existing episodes of the iconic “Star Trek” television library will also be available on Netflix globally by the end of 2016.

So for any trekkie who loves re-runs, you will have all of these shows at your disposal: “Star Trek: The Original Series,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Star Trek: Enterprise.”
