Amazon Plans for Alexa Wireless Earbuds with Fitness Tracking

According to CNBC who has learned from a source, e-commerce giant Amazon is working on wireless earbuds that will have fitness tracking built in.

The Alexa wireless earbuds can track things like distance runs, calories burned, and the pace of jogging says CNBC.

The new earbuds are dubbed “Puget,” and are expected to come with a built-in accelerometer, said a person directly involved in the project.

CNBC has also reported that the company is additionally developing a new, bulkier Echo device that comes with a woofer and better speakers than the original version.

It has not been said when the devices would be released. According to the source, the earbuds will need either an Apple or Android phone to use them and they will not come with built-in cellular connectivity.
The price point is below $100 said the person.

Amazon is however expected to reveal new products at its annual hardware event this Wednesday in Seattle. The company does not comment on rumored product launches.
