Amazon Now Lets Alexa Share Your Shopping List with Others

Posted on

This week e-commerce giant Amazon announced that its A.I. virtual assistant Alexa can now share a shopping list with someone else.

For those who are hard of seeing, a list given by voice may be a convenient option while at the store. It also helps families who need other members to grab stuff at the store for them.

In order to share your list with Alexa, you need to do the following steps:

1. Make a list. You can do this by accessing the Alexa app for iPhone or Android and by tapping “more.” You would then open “List & Notes” from the menu and add items under “Shopping.” You can also tell Alexa to add the items to the list by saying “Alexa, add (insert item) to my shopping list.”

2. You share the list by opening the Alexa app and tapping the Alexa button on the top of the screen and then speaking “Alexa, share my shopping list.”

3. Alexa will then ask who you want to share it with. Then, speak the name of your friend or family member.

Once a shopping list is shared, the recipient will get a notification on their phone or Amazon Echo devices to alert them that you have shared the shopping list.

CNBC’s Todd Haselton reported, the functionality is useful not only for holiday gift-giving, but also everyday items like groceries.
