Alphabet Inc.’s New CEO Gets Highest Ever Stock Award

Sundar Pichai, Alphabet Inc’s new instated CEO, will be receiving $240 million in performance-based stock awards over the next three years.

This is the largest that has ever been promised to any executive at the company.

Pichai would also take home $2 million in annual salary starting 2020, according to a regulatory filing on Friday. Last year Google’s co-founder Larry Page had a $1 salary.

Page and co-founder Sergey Brin stepped down earlier this month after they founded the company 21 years ago.

“In terms of grants related to CEO appointments, it’s behind Tim Cook’s grant of $376 million when he took over Apple,” said Amit Batish, marketing manager at Equilar.

Pichai has spent 15 years at Google. He had earned nearly $1.9 million in 2018.
