Airbus Made More Planes Than Boeing For the First Time in Years
2019 was undoubtedly a very bad year for Boeing, but on the flip side, it was an amazing year for Airbus.
Airbus has now become the world’s largest plane maker, a position it hasn’t had since 2011.
The company delivered a forecast-beating 863 aircraft in 2019, taking the crown away from Boeing.
Airbus had deployed extra resources until hours before midnight to reach 863 aircraft for the year, compared with its revised target of 860 jets.
The company saw deliveries rise 7.9 % from 800 aircraft in 2018. Figures must first be audited before they can be finalized and published.
Boeing has temporarily suspend the production of its 737 Max jetliner, beginning this month.
It was last March that Boeing’s 737 Max planes were grounded for the first time following two fatal air crashes that killed a total of 346 people. Over 700 737 Max planes were grounded worldwide at the time.
