A Tesla Model S Caught Fire in a California Parking Lot
According to the Santa Clara County Fire Department, a silver Model S vehicle by electric vehicle giant Tesla, caught fire in a parking lot in California this week.
It was on Tuesday that the vehicle caught figure in a Los Gatos business parking lot, said the department.
The car then reignited hours later at a tow yard in Campbell.
Officials said the car caught fire a little after 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Los Gatos Tire and Auto Repair. There were no injuries reported nor was any other car involved. The vehicle was also not being worked on.
According to the report, the owner and an employee of the tire shop said the car had been brought in on a tow truck and ignited moments after they heard a hissing noise coming from it.
Fire officials said that the batteries continued to burn long after the larger flames had been put out.
A Tesla spokesperson stated, “We are currently investigating the matter and are in touch with local first responders. We are glad to hear that everyone is safe.”
