Activision Blizzard To Lay Off Workers This Week
American video game company Activision Blizzard is planning to announce hundreds of job cuts on Tuesday according to a report from Bloomberg.
According to the Bloombeg report, the video game publisher of “Call of Duty,” “Diablo” and “Warcraft,” could be announcing job cuts “in the hundreds.”
Bloomberg, citing unidentified sources, reported that the job cuts would be a part of a restructuring.
The company had no comment for CNBC. Activision Blizzard reportedly employed around 9,800 people at the end of 2017.
Jason Schreier of Kotaku has reported that the rumored Activision Blizzard layoffs may primarily affect people in non-development roles, including marketing and sales.
It was last month that Activision said it split from game studio Bungie , which developed the popular “Destiny” game franchise.
The company is expected to release financial results tomorrow as well. The Los Angeles Times reports that analysts are expecting Activision Blizzard’s sales to fall by two percent to $7.28 billion.
Shares are down nearly 50% since the stock saw its 52-week high of $84.68 last October.
