UBS Boast of an All Inclusive Labor Force in the Americans
Swiss based bank UBS Group (UBSG) says that it has an all-inclusive labor force in the Americans whereby it has 38% of their employees being women and 25% were people of color according to data collected end of last year.
In the report the bank claims of including this diversity while hiring, 41% of its new recruits are women and 38% are non-white individuals.
In job promotions, 33% of promoted employees in UBS are women while 21% are people of color, said UBS Americas President Tom Naratil, during an interview where he stated that this inclusivity pattern is reflected in each job level expect at the director level.
“Where we see breakage in the pipelines is roughly around the director level, that is where the pyramid starts to narrow. The bank hopes that by voluntarily disclosing the numbers it will be held more accountable on diversity internally and externally,” said Naratil.
The President also said the bank’s long term goal is to achieve 50% diversity in hiring, promotion and retention in the Americas. He however didn’t give a time frame in which the bank intends to achieve it within.
Naratil confirmed he was indeed pleased by how the bank had progressed with gender inclusivity among its employees in the Americas. He however pointed out that more ought to be done with figures of the people of color especially the Black Americans.
“Black Americans are clearly the ones that are least represented and that is where we clearly see opportunity to improve. More work was also required to improve diversity among financial advisers, who are still primarily Caucasian and male,” added Naratil.
