Top Analysts Says Apple’s Computerized Glasses Will Be as Powerful as a Mac
According to top analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TFI Asset Management, tech giant Apple’s computerized glasses will be as powerful as a Mac and will launch at the end of 2022.
There has been an ongoing rumor that the iPhone maker would release a pair of glasses that use augmented reality.
Apple will likely use a version of its own M1 processors to power the new glasses.
Kuo is one of the most notable analysts to predict future Apple product launches thanks to his research throughout Apple’s supply chain.
According to Kuo, the huge processing power will help the glasses stand out from competitors since they’ll perform intensive tasks without a connection to a smartphone or computer. Previous reports had said the glasses would need a connection to an iPhone in order to work.
The prediction may be because of Apple developing its own processors for Mac computers. The chips are called the M1 and outperform Intel processors.
It was this fall that Apple released the newest and most powerful versions of the M1 processor, the M1 Pro and M1 Max, in the new MacBook Pro. Kuo said Apple’s glasses will also use a processor based on the M1.
According to Kuo, the company will position the glasses as an iPhone accessory, not a replacement for the iPhone.
Apple shares were down more than 2% on Friday.
