Tesla Eyeing a Location for Cybertruck Gigafactory in the Central U.S
Electric car maker Tesla Inc. (TSLA) may be erecting a new mega factory around the central United States. This is according to the company’s founder and CEO Elon Musk who through Twitter hinted at the possibility of a new plant specialized for producing cybertrucks.
“Scouting locations for Cybertruck Gigafactory. It Will be central USA,” read Musk’s Tweet.
The cybertruck pickup which assumes the shape of a wedge is set to hit the market late next year according to an earlier update released by the company the truck will be going for a price slightly under $40,000.
In the beginning of the year, the company said there is need for it to scale up production of batteries so as to produce the cybertruck among other high capacity models.
Last week Tesla asked for its customers’ input regarding if the new gigafactory should be erected in Texas.
In January also Tesla announced it had started producing model Y at its factory in Fremont, California. Further the EV maker said Model Y’s produced at this factory will first hit the market in March.
