Intel Investing in ‘Smart Buildings’ in Israel

Leading chip-maker Intel Corp (INTL) announced it will be building additional ‘smart buildings’ in Israel, these buildings will be having perks which will be keeping workers happy hence helping Intel to woo top skilled employees in the country work for them.

Currently in Israel, Intel is among multinationals which have employed a large chunk of workers from the country, recently Intel revealed its plan of pumping extra $11 billion to build a manufacturing plant in Israel.

Worldwide Israel is the country with the most startups per capita attributing this to massive support from the government and Israel’s progressive military, however the country is suffering from an acute shortage of skilled labor.

The shortage of skilled labor is proving to be a major hurdle to many tech multinationals who have been rushing to invest in startups based in Israel.

Citing a research done in 2018 by Start-Up National Central, tech companies in Israel failed to fill 17,000 positions in that year.

To solve this problem by attracting skilled labor, Intel erected a magnificent ‘new development center’ in Tel Aviv. Among the many amenities in the building include; a massage parlor, a smart gym, structured air and light to enable workers comfortable and over 10,000 motion monitors.

Double skin façade was also installed in the building to enhance ventilation and prevent it from heating up due to the scorching Middle Eastern sun.

The building assumes the shape of a box, moreover, the ten story building is covered in glass. Intel refused to reveal the total construction cost of the building, nonetheless, unverified information from Israel’s media quoted the construction cost to be $188 million (650 million shekels).
