Foxconn Approved to Resume Operations in Zhengzhou, China

On Monday, Foxconn Technology Co. (TPE:2354) received a green light to resume operations in its factory based in the northern Chinese city of Zhengzhou which operations had been suspended following outbreak of deadly coronavirus in the country, confirmed sources involved with the matter.

In addition, the person said around 16,000 workers (representing 10% of total work force at the plant) had already returned back to the factory further saying, the company’s top executives were trying every means possible to convince the authorities allow them resume operation in other parts in China.

“The contract manufacturer is in talks to resume production at key plants including in Shenzhen and Kunshan,” said the person who declined been identified.

In an earlier statement released by the company, Foxconn made it clear among its top priorities is the safety of its working personnel further saying it’s closely working with necessary authorities to resume operations in a staggered and orderly manner.

As per internal memos reviewed by the press, thousands of Foxconn workers in China had resumed work after the extended Lunar New Year holiday. The workers had been directed to wear masks and undergo regular temperature checks.
