Alphabet Inc.’s Verily Launches Website to Help People Against Coronavirus
Research Company Verily Life Sciences has launched a website that invites adults in the northern California to track their health and recent travelling activities a study which could end up with participants getting free coronavirus screening.
According to the post, Verily indicated it’s working with the office of California’s governor to lead high risk individuals to newly launched testing centers in San Mateo and Santa Clara. The company says it goes to the extent of directly calling these people to schedule testing appointments.
Verily says if it receives individuals exhibiting flu-like virus symptoms it won’t test them through their systems rather advice them to seek medical care immediately.
The company assured that responses from individual’s surveys will be stored in an encrypted Google database and access of this data will be restricted and monitored.
The data will also be shared with authorities in the healthcare department but never will it be merged with user’s data on other Google avenues unless upon request from the user.
If the data may be needed for research use in the future, Verily says it will have to request for permission from users who submitted the data at the future time.
U.S President Donald Trump took it upon himself to thank Verily and its sister company Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) for developing the website which the company terms as their way of making a real impact out here in this time of crisis.
