A Bernie Sanders Tweet Sent Ariad (ARIA) Shares Tumbling
Author By Sophia VidaPosted on Ariad Pharmaceuticals has soared over 90% this year, but shares fell 14.8% after Bernie Sanders sent out a tweet on the company on Friday.
Sanders criticized the pharma company’s new leukemia drug price on Twitter. He tweeted, “Drug corporations’ greed is unbelievable. Ariad has raised the price of a leukemia drug to almost $199,000 a year.”
“Over the past year, we’ve seen far too many examples of drug companies raising prices excessively for long-standing, life-saving treatments with little or no new innovation or R&D,” said Hillary Clinton in a statement last month.
