Many people have no idea that before Volodymyr Zelensky became the esteemed president of the Ukraine, he was also an actor.

“Servant of the People,” is the name of the satirical comedy series that stars Ukraine’s now-President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The show has excitingly returned to Netflix in the U.S. and follows a high school teacher who unexpectedly becomes president after a video of him complaining about corruption goes viral.

The series began in 2015 and ran for three seasons, ending when Zelenskyy launched an actual campaign for the position in 2019 under the banner of a new political party, also called Servant of the People. He won in a landslide, collecting more than 73% of the votes, and became the president of Ukraine later that year.

“You asked and it’s back,” Netflix wrote in a tweet Wednesday, announcing the return of the series. It’s available to stream starting Wednesday.

Zelenskyy has become the face of Ukrainian resistance since Russia made its attack on the country in February.

The president has posted frequent videos on social media and has captured fans across the world.

In spite of the proliferation of memes and references, the show itself wasn’t widely available in most countries until recently, and especially not in the US. Now that Netflix has the rights,

Servant of the People is available to all US subscribers.
