German based car manufacturer Volkswagen AG (ETR: VOW3) has announced it will be introducing a new operating system software into their cars which will help in eliminating road accidents.

In fact the company said by the year 2050 there will no longer be road accidents involving their cars.

Future cars produced by the company will be installed with sensors, processors and software which will be programmed in a way it will be able to predict an accident hence allowing the drivers to take necessary measures and avoid the accident.

Additionally the software will also give chance to the drivers to learn and maneuver new reflexes.

We want to have no more accidents by 2050. The new software-based vehicle operating system, which is being launched with Volkswagen’s new ID:3 electric car, will be continually updated as software algorithms improve,” said Volkswagen Chief of strategy, Michael Jost.

Jost said their customers should take advantage of the ever dynamic tech world and learn how they can use the software to their benefit.

How quickly can data and algorithms improve? Our customers should benefit from deep learning every week, and every day. We are moving from being a device company to being a software company,” added Jost.

Volkswagen is set to hit the European market with its next generation cars in summer, the company’s board member in charge of electro mobility, Thomas Ulbrich said the cars are still undergoing necessary improvements.

We are not yet at 100%. It is normal that there are still technical tasks to be done shortly before market launch,” said Ulbrich.

In addition Ulbrich said once through the green cars will be going for 24,000 euros ($27,000).
