25 Killed by Tornadoes in Tennessee Amidst Presidential Primary Elections

On Tuesday multiple Tornadoes struck through Nashville, Tennessee, and its surroundings leaving 25 people dead and many more others with severe and minor injuries.

These string of Tornadoes stroke while voters across Tennessee were voting in the ongoing Presidential primary election dubbed Super Tuesday presidential primary.

During a press briefing Tennessee Governor, William Byron, expressed fears the death toll would increase as the search and rescue mission progressed.

“It’s a tragic day in our state, a sad day. There are 25 confirmed fatalities. I spent the day touring and visiting with victims and walking through neighborhoods and the devastation is heartbreaking. It’s incredible. Prayers are greatly needed,” said the Governor.

The Governor was first addressing the press 15 hours after the calamity struck, he however declined to reveal how many people remained unaccounted for.

According to National Weather Service eight tornadoes touched down in Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky. Nonetheless, depending with further analysis this number could change. The National Weather Service didn’t reveal how many of the tornadoes landed a direct hit on Nashville.

Fire Department Director Chief William Swann, said a minimum of 30 people were left with injuries, around 48 buildings were destroyed in Nashville, additionally tens of thousands of people were left without power.

U.S President Donald Trump assured affected persons of his administration’s support during this difficult moment.
