Amazon Forbids Sale of 1 Million Products Citing False Coronavirus Claims

Leading e-commerce giant Amazon Inc. (AMZN) said in recent weeks it has resulted to prohibiting sale of one million products across its platform. The company said these prohibited products have falsely been accused to cure or prevent the deadly coronavirus.

Furthermore Amazon says it has also removed tens of thousands of products from its platform, products whose merchants wanted to swindle Amazon customers.

This move comes at a time highly coveted Amazon is facing scrutiny over the health-related offers on its platform. In the begging of the week Italy opened investigations to look into hiking prices around sanitizing gels and hygiene masks bought online.

One case study done showed prices for masks on Amazon platform were here than normal the masks in question have been manufactured by U.S based firm 3M Co.

On Thursday a 10-pack of N95 masks was going for $128 on the Amazon retailer platform. The same product normally goes for $41.24 on average on the same platform.

Amazon’s spokeswoman said there exists no room price gouging on their platform further saying the exists a policy in the company that product information must be accurate and the company can remove offers deemed to be hurting customer’s trust.
