Some May Find Burger Kings’ New Ad About Cutting Artificial Preservatives Kind of Gross
Fast food giant Burger King is removing artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors from its popular Whopper sandwich. In a new ad campaign using a moldy Whopper, Burger King highlights the change.
It was this Wednesday that the Restaurant Brands International chain said it is removing artificial colors, flavors and preservatives from its signature Whopper sandwich in the U.S.
The moldy whopper in the ad campaign is supposedly 28 days old, with text that reads “the beauty of no artificial preservatives.”
Currently over 400 U.S. restaurants are already selling Whoppers without artificial additives. The chain expects all Whoppers sold in the U.S. to follow suit by the end of 2020.
Additionlly, most European countries are already selling their Whoppers without the artificial additives.
Burger King has said that over 90% of all food ingredients at U.S. restaurants do not contain artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Food items also do not contain MSG or high-fructose corn syrup.
“The Burger King® brand is currently rolling out the Whopper® sandwich with no preservatives, colors, or flavors from artificial sources in the U.S. The product is already available in more than 400 restaurants in the country and will reach all restaurants throughout the year,” said Christopher Finazzo, President Americas, Burger King® Corporation.
He added, “In the U.S., more than 90% of all food ingredients at Burger King® restaurants are free from colors, flavors, and preservatives from artificial sources. The brand also removed MSG and high-fructose corn syrup from all
food items.”

That’s why we are working hard to remove preservatives, colors and flavors from artificial sources from the food we serve in all countries around the world,” said Fernando Machado, Restaurant Brands International Global Chief Marketing Officer.
