Starbucks announced some pretty exciting news for those of us who want Starbucks coffee without having to drive to a location.

The company announced that it is partnering up with Uber Eats to bring delivery to about a quarter of its U.S. based stores by the end of the second quarter.

The delivery program has already been accessible in China and serves 2,000 stores across 30 cities in the country.

Starbucks made the announcement at the same time it announced its long-term earnings forecast at an investor meeting in New York.

“In locations where drive-thru isn’t feasible we are testing platforms like delivery,” Roz Brewer, chief operating officer, said during the meeting.”
CEO Kevin Johnson has said that not all drinks would be available for delivery and that some drinks may not even be suitable for the service. He remarked, “We were very thoughtful about this.”

Johnson said he is focusing on “doing what Starbucks does best, and creating big strategic partnerships that complement what we do best, from Alibaba to Nestle with the Global Coffee Alliance and now Uber Eats. ”

The company did not provide a list of cities that will get the delivery.
John Culver, Starbucks group president, international and channel development, said, “These are the very early days of our rollout of the program, and we anticipate that as we ramp the program, we’re going to gain a much better understanding as to the overall impact to the business.”
